The iPhone 16 launch is way too far and is close to a year away. But, the leaks about the next-generation iPhones have already been pouring in for some time now. The iPhone 16 series is tipped to come with bigger displays, better design, improved camera, new chipset, and more. Here is everything that leaks suggest so far about 2024 iPhones.

iPhone 16 leaks so far: New display, chipset, camera and other changes

Display

The iPhone 16 Pro is speculated to sport a 6.3-inch display, while its more expensive counterpart, the iPhone 16 Pro Max, could pack a 6.9-inch screen. However, for users anticipating a size increase in the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, disappointment may loom as these models are anticipated to maintain the same screen dimensions as their predecessors – namely, 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens, respectively.

Rumors suggest the upcoming iPhones may shift to Samsung-supplied OLED material, potentially replacing blue fluorescent technology with blue phosphorescence to enhance power efficiency. There's also speculation about the incorporation of Micro LED display technology, promising improved brightness and color while conserving power

Design

If leaks are to be believed, solid-state buttons could be seen on next year's iPhone models. Apple might refer it to as the "Capture button," in the iPhone 16 Pro models. Described as capacitive buttons rather than traditional mechanical ones, they are designed to detect pressure and touch, offering haptic feedback through built-in haptic engines, similar to the iPhone SE series' Home button.

Chipset

Details regarding the chipset in the standard iPhone 16 remain unclear. There are suggestions that it might adopt the A17 Pro chip from the iPhone 15 Pro models, but rumors also hint that Apple could also decide to offer a 3-nanometer A18 chip for the 2024 standard iPhones. The iPhone 16 Pro models could get a more powerful version of the same chip. Further clarity on the iPhone 16's chipset is anticipated in the coming year.

Camera

The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are rumored to feature a "tetra-prism" telephoto camera, promising an optical zoom increase from 3x to 5x for sharper and more detailed photos. Additional reports from tech analyst Jeff Pu suggest a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera for the iPhone 16 Pro series, enhancing low-light performance. Apple is reportedly exploring a stacked design for the Pro models, aiming to improve light capture and expand dynamic range, potentially elevating Night Mode capabilities significantly.
